I was so sad to hear of Allan Rickman dying, he was a good actor. He was a hero in Harry Potter. At least they don't have to find a replacement for him since the Harry Potter movies are all complete.

He was an awesome Severus Snape. I might check out some of the other movies he was in. He also read a couple of books on Audible.

Now that I think about it, isn't he like the third or fourth actor from the HP series to die since Chamber of Secrets was released? First Richard Harris, then the kid who played Marcus Belby, and wasn't there one more?

Post 4 by BellatrixLestrange (I'm here to give everyone a hard time lol!) on Sunday, 17-Jan-2016 14:59:00

I didn't know he read any audio books.

It's a darn good thing they don't have to replace him, because I can't imagine anyone else in the role of Snape. Just like the actor who replaced Richard Harris as Dumbledore sucked in the role, anyone else who would have tried to replace Rickman would have, compared to him. I know he did a lot of movies, but aside from the Harry Potter series, and the original Die Hard, I'm not sure what all else he was in.

I think I saw him on an old Knight Rider episode, but can't tell. The dude sounded like him. I don't really know for sure.
But, it's really sad all these stars are dying.
Blessings,
Sarah

Didn't they have to find a replacement for Professor mccgonigal at some point in the movies? I'm not sure if I remember that correctly.

Post 8 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Sunday, 17-Jan-2016 15:50:37

I don't think so, no. I think it was always Maggie Smith. I may have her last name wrong, but it was the same actress. She'd have been impossible to replace, too.

Post 9 by Shepherdwolf (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Sunday, 17-Jan-2016 16:17:25

I'm sad to hear Rickman died, and I do think he played a good Snape. Personally, I always thought of Snape sounding a bit higher-pitched and slightly more...shifty. Rickman was in his fifties and sixties when he did the role, and it shows. And he can't help that, it's fine, but it's not precisely how I pictured Snape.
But frankly, I don't ever expect movies to get this right, and I'd be a pretty demanding viewer if I expected them to get everything right in my head.

Don't forget Die Hard, y'all.

I didn't, Danni. See post 5. Die Hard was the first movie I ever saw him in.

Professor McGonigal was always played by Dame Maggie Smith.

Dame Maggie is still very much alive as she played bitingly witty Dowager Countess Violet
Grantham in the hit TV series Downton Abbey.

I should think that the tv and film establishment would go into one collective conniption fit if
she were to pass away.

What books did he read? I never knew he narrated books, to.

Great actor, he really was. One thing that always baffled me though, and this must be a visual thing: many articles have declared him a "sex symbol" and he even won the dubious honour of "sexiest man alive" at one point. Does anyone else find this very very very hard to understand? Interesting, yes. Talented, yes...but sexy? Nuh uh.

I always thought he was kinda sexy. lol

Eh, maybe I'm just insane then, though one of my sighted friends doesn't get it, either.

I don't get it either Meglet. But I have at least one female friend who I know would say he's very sexy, so maybe people like you and I are in the minority?

I'm a little sad that the books and movies are done. It was a good series. Has anyone heard of the Harry Potter Fan fiction club or something? not sure what it's called but I wanted to find out more about hat it is; if it's in a form of books, would they be in Braille?

Trisha, I've got a friend who could tell you all you ever wanted to know about HP fan-fic. I'll see if I can direct her to this board, or to PM you if you want.

Fanfiction is on many sites. You can read them in Braille if you download them or have a Braille display from the site itself. I run an archive which I keep in text. fanfiction.net is the main site, as well as ao3.org and many others. If you'd like to check out my Harry Potter Fanfic folder, the link is this.

You will need 7zip to open the file. If you are interested in future updates or more info email me at

I run an email list. If you are interested in subscribing to that email

There is no traffic. Only announcements of updates to that above link and all replies go directly to me.

I love Severus Snape very much. And Alan Rickman brought him to life so well. I was so sad when he passed. It was like losing Sev all over again. But, happily for me, though there will never be another Alan, there are many Fanfics portraying Severus in many different and fun ways. Depending on what you enjoy. And the Potter world, and by extention, Severus, for me, lives on.

Post 23 by BellatrixLestrange (I'm here to give everyone a hard time lol!) on Friday, 22-Jan-2016 16:08:34

so there's n chance of getting the hp fan fic stuvf in hard cover braille? just wondering as that is how I read most of my stuff.

Post 24 by KatherineSnape (Newborn Zoner) on Saturday, 23-Jan-2016 20:04:11

No. Not unless you get a txt document and print it. For Fanfics you will have to update your prefferences or switch to a Braille display.
